The Cardinal Climax: 2008-2015

A Review of Past Forecast Book Quotes

As of September 2008, the U.S. and world banking system has officially entered a state of crisis. This economic and banking crisis will likely bring about the end of an era, and lead to an immense transformation of not just the banking and financial community, but almost every aspect of the human experience (political, social, cultural, etc).

Astrologers throughout time have often been asked: “Did you predict this?” In current times, these same questions come from an uneducated, uninformed, and misinformed society that places astrologers incorrectly into the gamut of entertainment and fortune-telling. The fact is that Astrology is a very complex and serious study that takes years to understand and an uncanny judgment in order to apply to current times. When done correctly, Astrology becomes a very valuable tool for society in understanding the times we are living in, and forecasting the future times ahead.  Please notice that I use the word “forecasting,” not “prediction.” That is because in its proper use, Astrology is a forecasting tool. It outlines the likely conditions ahead, not the inevitable outcome, as a prediction would. True astrologers understand that the outcome of anything must involve choice, and choice is an aspect of free will. Astrology, and the Astrologer, is thus a “choice revealer,” not a “choice maker.”

But in answer to the question, “Did anyone in Astrology forecast (predict) the current banking and economic crisis?” … the answer is yes, probably many astrologers forecasted this period of crisis. Many astrologers could have forecasted this period as being critical to Humanity in many ways, by simply looking at an ephemeris of the planetary signatures that were to be in effect 2008-2012, and even into 2015.

Although I cannot verify the following, it is possible that I was the first to address to period from an Astrological point of view in a book published in 1991 titled “Evolutionary Astrology: The Journey of the Soul Through States of Consciousness”.

It is also true that in every annual Forecast Book since the early 1990’s, I also referred to this period as one of a critical turning point for Humankind. As you can see from the excerpts below from Forecasts Books 1995 to 2008, the ideas of this critical period evolved over the years, based on my understanding of how the world and national economy and geopolitical situation were unfolding. This too shows the importance of integrating Financial Astrology with the data as it unfolds, and not to try to make a prediction or forecast based on Astrology alone.

Keep in mind that each of these Forecasts Books are written in October-November of the year before. For instance, the quotes for Forecasts For 1995 were written in October-November 1994. Each year’s Forecast Book is written in the months before the year begin. Each book is then printed on December 1 of the year before it applies, and sent out to purchasers on December 15, also of the year preceding the book’s title. I share the following excerpts not to point out what a great prognosticator I am, but instead to demonstrate exactly how the study of Financial Astrology could have been, and still may be, a very valuable tool for Humankind to both understand and use effectively in either maximizing the benefits of certain cycles, or minimizing their adverse historical themes.

Below are the excerpts from the past 14 years that have accurately identified the period beginning in 2008 as a critical turn for Humankind, especially in the arena of economics and finances. Let it never be said that Financial Astrology is a study for the naïve and misinformed. I am not aware of any other study or scientific discipline that was so accurate in its timing of this economic and financial crisis, so far ahead of time, as this.

Forecasts 1995

(written in October-November 1994)

Things have definitely slowed down since the hectic period of 1988-1993 known as the “Capricorn Climax”. That was a special and unique period in astronomic (and human) history when Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and the Moon’s North Node all conjoined in the tropical constellation of Capricorn. Nothing like that had ever happened before in our lifetime. Those monumental world changes, present in cultural, economic, political, health, and individual areas, continue and will continue to affect us for many, many generations. The next somewhat comparable era is not due until 2008-2012, so there is some time to work with the issues brought forth during the “Capricorn Climax,” and to deal with the ramifications of change which this same period coincided with.

The beginning of every Forecast Book attempts to outline the significance of the major geocosmic patterns in effect during the next year. There are at least three such major signatures starting in 1995: Pluto entering Sagittarius for 14 years, Uranus entering Aquarius for 7-8 years, and the final quarter phase of the Jupiter/Saturn cycle (5 years). These are indeed all important, but not likely as eventful as the “Capricorn Climax,” nor as eventful as the period 2008-2012, when Uranus will enter Aries, Pluto will enter Capricorn (squared by Uranus), and Saturn will enter Libra. This will be the first time since 1929-1931 that these three bodies have been in the cardinal T-Square signs to one another. You may recall that 1929-1931 was an eventful time in the world. You may conclude (I do) that whatever we are doing now is simply a buildup into that time period. What happens then will be a direct result of policies, behaviors, and attitudes we are starting to develop and implement now. Hopefully, as a world body, we will have more wisdom and foresight now than we did in the 1920’s. Otherwise it might very well fall apart – again. Oh yes, it will rebuild again. But is it necessary to go through the agony – again? It is until we learn from our experiences.

Forecasts 1996

These assumptions, and the correlate, are the basis for a long-term outlook on Humanity’s future. And based upon these assumptions, we have just started a cycle that is not due to climax until the period 2008-2011. (For a greater understanding of these cycles, please read Evolutionary Astrology: The Journey of the Soul Trough States of Consciousness, by author).

…the probability that the number and intensity of such “doomsday prophets” will probably escalate greatly between now and then. But based upon these assumptions, the course of history (and destiny) upon earth will not likely take a dramatic turn for at least 12 more years. There is not likely to be a major world war, nor nuclear holocaust, nor world wide economic collapse, nor major collapse of a political system that strongly influences the course of Humankind for the next twelve years minimum.

Why 2008-2011? And what is the purpose of examining long-term cycles? If the long-term outlook suggests a cycles in effect until 2008-2011, then all shorter-term cycles between now and then must be placed in proper perspective. All of the events, decisions, policies, agreements, contracts, elections, etc….they are all just chapters of a greater book whose climax is not reached until 2008-2011. They seem important at the time, but in and of themselves, they are only part of the grander scheme of things that is moving towards a destination 12-15 years out in time.

According to the assumptions provided at the beginning of this chapter, this “new cycle” will remain intact and in effect until 2008-2011. That is because there are no periods of time in which multiple aspects between the major long-term planets form in cardinal signs until then. And what happens then? Pluto ingresses into Capricorn, Uranus into Aries, Saturn into Libra. In addition, the Moon’s North Node will also move back into Capricorn. The last time these three planets (and Node) were all in Cardinal signs was 1967-72 and 1929-1931.

Forecasts 1997

However as mentioned in last year’s Forecast book, the end of this period (2008-2014) may also witness a very sharp economic decline, or threat of war. This is the halfway point of the Kondratieff Cycle, not to mention the time Uranus will move into Aries, Saturn into Libra, and Pluto T-Squaring both as it moves into Capricorn. The last time that happened was 1929-1931.

Sometime between here and 2008, the concept of money will change radically, and with it the financial structure of the world economy as we know it today. It is quite possible that the “adjustment” here may be difficult, especially after 2008, and may last 2-6 years, but in the perspective of the longer-term cycle, it is merely a “correction” – not the “end of the world”, as many are apt to claim (again).

Forecasts 1998

The “Capricorn Climax” – the “Contraction phase” of the Kondratieff wave – is over. The end and beginning of the larger cycle have been completed. However there will be critical points along the new Kondratieff cycle, and critical points along the cycles of the planetary pairs involved in the “Capricorn Climax.” that will likely coincide with possible “crises” (dangers and opportunities) to the foundation of this new economic order. The magnitude of each crisis depends upon the phase of the longer-term cycle of which it is but a part. 1998-2000 may represent one of those crises points from the study of the Kondratieff Cycle and Astrology. However, it is smaller in magnitude than one that is due to arise 2008-2014. If most cycles are comprised of three “phases”, or sub-cycles, than the middle-to-end of the next decade will represent the one-third point of the 54-year Kondratieff cycle (15-21 years after the 1986-1993 bottom and contraction period). It will also represent a time in which Pluto will enter the constellation of Capricorn and in T-Square to Uranus entering Aries and Saturn Libra (2008-2011). But during that time and extending an additional three years to 2014, each of these planets will enter into a T-Square with one another. The last time these three planets were involved in a T-Square in Cardinal signs was 1930-33, in the midst of the “Great Depression.” The difference in terms of cycles is that 1930-33 was at the end of the Kondratieff wave cycle, whereas 2008-2014 will mark approximately the first one-third point of the cycle. The 2008-2014 phase is still the birthing point of the longer-term cycle. It probably represents a time of leaving its “innocence” phase. Technology matures and thereafter may become the undisputed foundation of the world’s economy, for better or worse. Manufacturing and industry must be re-tooled, or relegated to a less important position in the survival of the Human species.

Forecasts 1999

(note: this was written in October-November 1998, and is the first time this period of 2008-2015 is referred to as “The Cardinal Climax,” a term that is now universally used by astrologers all over the world).

So where is this leading to? When does this momentum climax, according to our understanding of astrology? And what are the choices that will likely confront humankind regarding this development? Time-wise, the next celestial clustering that approaches the level of 1988-1993, will take place between 2008-2015. This powerful time band will henceforth be referred to as the “Cardinal Ingress Climax” in future editions of this book. That is due to the fact that Jupiter, the North Node, Saturn, Uranus, and Pluto will ingress into cardinal signs and form “hard aspects” to one another. The later three of these (Saturn, Uranus, and Pluto) are most important because their orbits around the Sun take so long (29, 84, and 248 years respectively), and because they will form a T-Square in cardinal signs to one another.
Why is this period so important? Because a review of the major events and eras that defined, and/or re-defined, the history of civilization, will reveal that they took place when the slowest moving planets were in cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, or Capricorn). And the most intense of these periods happened when they also formed “hard aspects” (conjunctions, squares, or oppositions) to one another.

As an example, the last time three of the four major planets (Neptune is the fourth) were in cardinal signs together was 1988-1993, which was the “Capricorn Climax.” The time before that was 1973-1975 (President Nixon’s Watergate scandal and the Oil Crisis). In 1966-1968 (a cultural revolution and Viet Nam War) Saturn, Uranus, and Pluto were in hard aspect to each other, and major international conflict arose in Korea (Korean War). It was also the start of the “Cold War” between Russian Communism and the rest of the Free World. And the time before that was 1929-1932, which was most similar in planetary alignment to what will be experienced in 2008-2015. At that time, Saturn, Uranus, and Pluto were not only in cardinal signs, but forming yet another the powerful cardinal T-Square to another, just as they will again during the “Cardinal Ingress Climax.”

Forecasts 2000

The year 2000 is the 7th year following the 1988-1993 “Capricorn Climax” and the 8th year prior to the 2008-2012 “Cardinal Climax.” It is therefore right in the middle of two of the most significant astrological clusters that will form in any given lifetime.

The next extreme major shift in the collective consciousness is due with the “Cardinal Climax,” which takes place between 2008-2012. During this period, Pluto will ingress (enter into) Capricorn, Uranus will ingress Aries, and Saturn will ingress Libra. These are all cardinal signs, and therefore they will form a major T-square configuration to one another. The last time these three planets formed such a configuration to one another was in 1930-1932. For the most part, they were in cardinal signs then as well.

We can assume that the significant events, ideas, inventions, or decisions that relate to this powerful astrological set up in May 2000 (all three signatures just discussed will unfold then) can occur anywhere from October 1998-February 2001 (9 months either side of the Saturn/Uranus passes), but most likely between December 1999-October 2000 (5 months either side of May 2000).

There is one other thing to keep in mind, and that is the “broader, longer-term perspective.” Even in astrology, it is useful to keep an eye on the ‘broader cosmic picture.’ Even though May 2000 contains a rare combination of geocosmic signatures, they are not as rare (and hence probably not as significant to the long-term picture) as “The Capricorn Climax” (1988-1993) which occurred recently and dramatically altered the quality of human life throughout the world. Nor is the lineup in May 2000 likely as significant as the “Cardinal Climax” which will unfold 2008-2012. The May 2000 setup is probably the strongest cluster that will happen between these other two remarkable cosmic events, and as such it will likely be important. The fact that it is halfway between two “climaxes” suggests that something of importance could transpire in 1999-2000 that acts as a connection between those two greater celestial periods. Perhaps the events and decisions of 1999-2000 act as a “bridge,” connecting the two major “Climax” periods of 1988-1993 with 2008-2012.

Forecasts 2001

The year 2001 is the 8th year following the 1988-1993 “Capricorn Climax” (see previous Forecasts books for explanation) and 7 years prior to the start of the 2008-2015 “Cardinal Climax.” Please note that as a result of further study, the time band for the “Cardinal Climax” has been extended from 2012 to 2015, as reported last year. This is due to the fact that the final aspect in this climax (Uranus square Pluto) doesn’t end until March 2015.

Theoretically, these periods then coincide with dramatic shifts of consciousness and direction in human activity.

Theoretically (there is that word again), the momentum begun during that period will continue – as a trend – into the next period when the next set of major planetary pair cycles will come into a multiple aspect formation. This will occur between 2008-2015, when Saturn, Uranus, and Pluto (as well as the Moon’s North Node again) will all enter cardinal signs, thus the term “Cardinal Climax”. During that time band, Saturn, Uranus, and Pluto will form a huge T-square to one another. The last time that happened was 1929-1931. My guess is that the limits to the current technology renaissance will not begin to be comprehended until then. Prior to this period, humankind’s capacity to inspire and amaze with applications of its inventions in technology will continue to boggle the imagination.

But right in the middle of these two “Climaxes” is a “mini-climax.” Between 1998-2002 we find the planet Saturn engaged in a series of hard aspects to first Neptune (conjunction), then Uranus (square) and Jupiter (conjunction), an finally Pluto (opposition). The middle of any cycle is vulnerable to a pause, or even a sharp correction. This has certainly been true in this case, as the whole technology sector of the business community came to a screeching pause right in 2000. A “shake-out” has ensued, whereby scores of start-up technology companies have fallen by the wayside. They were unable to continue to attract investor monies, as they were unable to show ability to garner revenues and profits (through sales). However, if our theory holds up, this is just a pause in the trend, and the end of the trend itself, which began between 1988-1993. The advances brought about through new applications of technology are likely to continue right into 2008-2016.

Forecasts 2002

The next celestial “Climax” will occur 2008-2015, when Saturn, Pluto, and Uranus will all enter Cardinal signs, and form a T-Square to one another. Most of this will take place in 2008-2010, but the Uranus-Pluto square will not be completed until 2015. The last time these three planets came into a similar formation was in 1930-1933, which coincided with the Great Depression. It doesn’t have to manifest the same way this time, although it could. It simply means that life as we know it will again be transformed.

Going into the opposition, the investment climate is actually more of a rampant
speculative environment. People are making money and lots of it, and they don’t want to hear about “doomsday prophecies” that it will all end soon. But it does, right around the time of the opposition, and hard times commence that usually last into the waning square between these two planets, some 8-9 years later. During these hard times, many banks suffer as a result of unwise loans made to companies and individuals that cannot fulfill the promise of their overly optimistic financial dreams. We are currently seeing this today, as the stock prices of many technology and telecommunication companies soared between 1996-2000, but today are worth just a fraction of their peaks. Not only that, but going into this current Saturn-Pluto opposition, the U.S. budget had finally been balanced and the government was enjoying the prospect of a sizable surplus. No more, however. But this is not the first time these reversals have shown up under Saturn-Pluto in opposition. Let’s look at the past history of this remarkable signature, as demonstrated in an article published recently in The Mountain Astrologer magazine.

Forecast 2003

My bias is that if there is another stock market crash, or economic or banking panic, the DJIA will hold above this level (1616 on DJIA). And if it does, it could then satisfy the criteria for labeling the 1987 bottom as a 54-year cycle trough, as well as satisfying the criteria for a forthcoming 72-year cycle trough. In fact, all that is needed to satisfy the 72-year cycle trough is for the DJIA to loss at least 46% of its value form the…all-time high. Once that happens, we can confirm a 72-year cycle trough is indeed forming, and the cycle is valid. And that might very well occur during the next great celestial pattern known as the “Cardinal Climax”, which is due 2008-2015.

Forecast 2004

The year 2004 begins the 11th year following the great Capricorn Climax of 1988-1993. It is also 4 years before the great Cardinal Climax that will commence 2008-2015. For greater discussion on the meaning of these astrological Climaxes, please refer to the Forecasts of 2000, 2001, 2002, and/or 2003.

Let’s outline this Saturn-Pluto cycle in terms of its 4 phases. Each phase lasts about 7-9 years. The first phase begins at the conjunction, and lasts through the waxing square. In the current Saturn-Pluto cycle, the first phase lasted from 1982-1993. During this phase, the economy and stock markets usually come out of a trough or recession, and begin a period of advance and prosperity. Hard times end, budget deficits (debt) begins to be reduced. The second phase is in effect from the waxing square through the opposition. In the current Saturn-Pluto cycle, the second phases lasted from 1993-2001. It is during this phase that the U.S. economy and stock market grow, and typically peak out very close in time to the opposition. Budget deficits are eliminated or sharply reduced, and in most cases, a budget surplus is actually attained. That indeed happened this time too, as the U.S. stock market soared to its all-time high in early 2000, with a double top in May 2001 in the DJIA. Additionally, the U.S. balanced its budget, and even attained a budget surplus by the time the opposition first hit in August 2001. But by the end of 2001, the Terrorist Attack on America, combined with the tax rebate of $600.00 per tax-paying citizen, had returned the federal budget back to a deficit, which continues to escalate to even new record levels already as this is being written.

The third phase is in effect between the opposition and the waning square of these two planets. In current times, that will take place between 2001-2009. Typically the debt of the nation, and the general trend of the economy, enters a period of greater concern and worry. Deficits and debt tend to increase, and so do interest rates. Taxes also tend to increase, and the economy is more prone to recession or sluggish growth. There is even vulnerability to an economic panic or depression at the time of the waning square (2009-2010), as people struggle with faith in their economic and political leaders. These struggles continue into the fourth phase, which takes place between the waning square and conjunction. In current times, that will occur between 2010-2020. The absolute economic or stock market cycle low can take place either at the time of waning square (2009-2010), which ends the prior phase and begins this phase, or within 2 years of the conjunction. If it occurs at the waning square, then the fourth phase is usually just a time of contraction. Neither the economy nor the stock market expand with any force, as a rule, until the conjunction period is near or completed. Additionally, interest rates tend to be high and consumer confidence low, and faith in political leaders is also near a nadir, until the conjunction period arises — or shortly after.

… As we now enter the third phase of the Saturn-Pluto cycle (the start of the second half), the dissatisfaction with world government and economic leaders tends to widen, and with it, the threat of terrorism is apt to grow, and not diminish. As the Saturn-Pluto opposition of 2001-2002 brought this threat of terrorism to a whole new light, due to the killing of so many innocent people from many nations of the world from the attack and destruction of the World Trade Center, the waning square could be even more worrisome. That is because at the time of the waning square, it is not just Saturn and Pluto that are in hard aspect to one another. Uranus joins this deadly duo, forming a T-square. These will take place in late mutable, and early Cardinal signs, and hence the term “The Cardinal Climax” for the period beginning at the end of this decade.

Thus the third phase of the Saturn–Pluto cycle appears to be building to a crescendo of potential violence and threat to the lives of great numbers of humanity. This force of terrorism and the danger it portends to humankind appears poised to peak in 2008-2010. With the presence of Uranus, which can symbolize new skills for groups of people, it is entirely conceivable that terrorist networks might finally come into possession and control of weapons of mass destruction. For purposes of this book, let us refer to the Saturn-Pluto signature as that force which pertains to those groups of people (Terrorists) who wish to wreak havoc and destruction upon the Earth and her inhabitants.

The Saturn-Pluto force to destroy the planet and her inhabitants who do not share their views of the world, will come in contrast to the growing numbers of people who will be willing to fight for peace and the elimination of weapons of mass destruction. For purposes of this book, we will refer to this later group that pushes for anti-violence and peace, as the Uranus-Neptune signature people. Both of these groups are expected to grow in strength throughout this first decade of the 21st century, with the ultimate outcome possibly decided at the end of this decade.

Forecasts 2005

The year 2005 begins the 12th year following the great Capricorn Climax of 1988-1993. It is also 3 years before the great Cardinal Climax that will commence 2008-2015.

The Cardinal Climax

An equally important geocosmic event will soon unfold, known as the “Great Cardinal Climax.” From 2008 through 2015, Saturn, Uranus, and Pluto will all ingress into cardinal signs, and form square and/or opposition aspects to one another. The entrance into cardinal signs will actually take place 2008-2010, when each of these planets will be in an almost (but not quite) T-square aspect pattern to one another. But the final square between Uranus and Pluto will not end until 2015, and thus we should consider this entire 7-year period to be significant, although the most significant within that period (from an astrological point of view) is most likely 2008-2010.

Saturn and Uranus have a 29- and 84-year orbital cycle period around the Sun. Pluto however, takes 248 years to makes its orbit around the Sun. During this period, when each enters into a cardinal sign, they also make one of the “hard” aspects to one another. A “hard aspect” in astrology consists of a conjunction, opposition, or square aspect between planets. A Saturn-Uranus planetary pair cycle, as pointed out earlier, commences about every 45 years. Saturn and Pluto begin their planetary cycles about every 32-37 years. Uranus and Pluto however, come together only every 126 years. The frequency of these three planets forming “hard aspects” to one another, in a T-square, is quite rare. The last time it happened was in 1931, in the midst of “The Great Depression.”

The fact that a similar configuration coincided with something as economically devastating as a “Great Depression” is within the themes suggested by these planets in these aspects. Saturn represents “the structure of a thing,” such as a government, or a format by which people conduct business. Uranus represents a sudden shock, oftentimes accompanied by unwise and massive speculation. And Pluto represents the principle of termination: a time in which many things can end, and a need to rebuild becomes evident. Pluto also rules the banking system, or more specifically, the matter of debt, and the inability to pay a debt off through the usual means, or according to the usual schedule. With Pluto and Saturn in a hard aspect, there can be the experience pain and trauma in the economic area. An increase in debt and even taxes is oftentimes witnessed. The integrity of the structure – government or economic - is threatened by these conditions, and drastic measures are called upon to deal with the crisis.

It is significant to note that of all the planetary aspects studied in relationship to the U.S. and British stock markets, only the conjunction and opposition between Saturn and Uranus have a 100% correlation to either the tops or bottoms of 4-year or greater cycles. In fact, in 10 of the 11 instances since 1761, the presence of Saturn and Uranus in one of these relationships has been present in 18-year or greater cycles. The last instance was in 1988, when Saturn and Uranus formed a conjunction three times between February and December of that year. Only 4 months before the first passage, the world experienced the “Great Stock Market Crash” of October 1987. That marked the end of the prior 18-year cycle, and the beginning of the one still now in effect. Thus, the “Great Cardinal Ingress” of 2008-2015, and in particular 2008-2010, promises to be an important climax in human activity and thought. It is the type of geocosmic phenomena that has frequently coincided with a major shift in the consciousness of the collective, and direction of civilization.

Forecasts 2006

The year 2006 begins the 13th year following the great Capricorn Climax of 1988-1993. It is also now only two years before the great Cardinal Climax that will commence 2008-2015. One can already feel it. The world is moving quickly to a major climax in geocosmic activity, and with it will likely come a major shift of collective consciousness and direction in Humankind’s path. The world, as we know it, is about to change again, on par with the changes that took place in the previous climaxes of 1987-1994 (lasting into 2001), 1965-1969 (lasting until 1982), and 1929-1932 (lasting into 1942).

The Next Fifteen Years (2006-2021)

The tide is starting to change. Karma is unfolding for Humankind.

Gone are the soft aspects from Jupiter in Libra to Neptune and Pluto (late 2004 through September 2005). Gone are the days when the words “Trust me,” meant you could trust the person who said them. Gone are the days when one is no longer held accountable for their decisions, and people believe in the promise that “things will get better.” Gone are the days when people believe in the wisdom of their leaders’ visions, or the faith that “Father knows best.”

Welcome to a new world of reality – and not “Reality TV.” Welcome to a world in which promise and vision are not enough to carry the day, or to get the vote. Welcome to a new world in which real progress and constructive change will take hard work and effort by people who are dedicated to the cause, and not just the personal glory or favorable financial position the role used to bring. Instead of “who do you know,” the path to advancement and promotion is changing to “How well can you manage, and how competent are you?” Cronyism is out, and accountability and performance are in.

If you want to succeed in the next 15 years, you have to get past the urge to hype, past the urge to feed into fear, past anything that is not real… and be accountable. If you want to succeed, you will have to be patient, dedicated to something beyond yourself, and able to apply all the spiritual and life lessons you have learned over the past few decades in your daily life. It is no longer about “me,” and what others can do to help “me” get what “I” want, regardless of whether I really deserve it or not.  It’s about the world, the group you belong to (socially or professionally), and how you can contribute to the greater whole. Anyone who thinks they can make it on their own will find out… they are alone, and it will be a lonely place. Everyone will need a little help from their friends, as the Beatles once sang, and to get it, you have to be a friend and give a little help. This is the message of Uranus and Neptune in mutual reception (2003-2011). This is the message of Pluto crossing the Galactic Center and Solar Apex (2007-2009). This is the message of Saturn, Uranus, and Pluto forming a T-square to one another, and all entering cardinal signs (2008-2014) for the first time since 1930-1931. It is the message of Saturn and Pluto in the downside of their cycle (2001-2020). It will require conscientious regard for the impact one’s actions will have on the well being of all others with whom one is associated. It is possible to succeed big time, of course, but not by the same means used in the past.

… We are now in another “down phase” of the Saturn-Pluto cycle from 2001-2002 through 2020. If history repeats (and so far it has), budget surpluses will give way to greater budget deficits, higher interest rates, higher taxes, and a more difficult economic and equity-investing environment. We are in the midst of an 18-year period where individuals are to be encouraged to save their money, protect their capital, and not focus on “capital appreciation” through the stock market (investing in companies that are not your own). Gone are the days of annual double-digit returns through equity investments. Oh, there may be a year here and there whereby the overall stock market performs well. But the years of little gain - or even of loss - tend to be more numerous now, especially when adjusted for inflation. On the bright side, one can anticipate that the stock market (and the economy) will bottom out sometime before the end of 2021. A great investment opportunity looms ahead – for those who have the cash (and courage) to invest when prices are at extremely attractive levels. That is likely to happen within 18 months of Saturn in its waning square to Pluto (November 15, 2009-August 21, 2010 +/- 18 months), or when they return to conjunction (January 12, 2020, +/- 18 months). Whichever happens to be the lowest low will tell us whether there is a dominant 72- or 90-year stock market cycle (see “Stock Market” section).  But even if the lowest level in stock indices is realized in the first instance, the stock market and economy are not expected to break out to the upside until the conjunction period is reached (2018-2021).

Forecasts 2007

The year 2007 begins the 14th year following the great “Capricorn Climax” of 1988-1993, when Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and the Moon’s North Node all transited through Capricorn and formed a conjunction to one another. This period coincided with a huge shift in many facets of human activity, not to mention boundaries of countries and governance in the world (think of the collapse of the Russian Communism in Eastern Europe) It is also now only one year before the next great astrological climax, the “Cardinal Climax” of 2009-2012, when Saturn, Uranus, and Pluto are all in the early degrees of cardinal signs (Libra, Aries, and Capricorn respectively). Pluto actually starts this process with its ingress into Capricorn in January 2008. Uranus (and Pluto) will remain in cardinal signs through May 2019, and Saturn re-enters a cardinal sign (Capricorn) December 2017-December 2020, so there is a “secondary wave” of this cosmic phenomenon in late 2017 through mid-2019. The point is that the entire period of 2008 through 2019 will be highlighted with themes from the Cardinal Climax – themes that will likely transform life as we know it, once again, but themes that will be most in evidence 2009-2012.

The sense that “The World is Different” increases every year as we draw nearer to the Cardinal Climax. And one reason is due to the fact that we are now in a decade when Saturn makes an opposition to all three planets beyond its orbit: Pluto (2001-2002), Neptune (2006-2007), and Uranus (2008-2010). This is a very rare phenomenon, because each of these planetary-pair relationships has a cycle exceeding 32 years. For all three to come into the same type of relationship with Saturn within a 9-year period is not very common. In fact, in the past 200 years, it has only happened three times:

 1862-1875 (mostly 1863-1873)

 And now, 2001-2010

In all three previous cases, the U.S. and/or British stock markets peaked with an all-time high, coincident with either the Saturn-Pluto or Saturn-Uranus part of the oppositions (1834, 1873, and 1966). In all three cases, serious economic declines followed, as well as major changes in the social and political structures of not just the United States, but other countries of the world as well.

Forecasts 2008

(written in October –November 2207, as the U.S. stock market was making its all-time high)

They don’t happen often. But when they do, life – as we know it upon earth – undergoes a critical change. The direction of the people that inhabit this small and beautiful planet, changes its course. And the history of its time spent in this sector of the galaxy is marked by a significant crossing. It is as if this wave of humanity embarked upon a journey to a certain destination, but then it came to a “fork in the road.” Or perhaps there was an unexpected circumstance that suddenly erupted, causing this journey to be altered – to seek another path in order to reach its destination. And in some cases, the destination itself became in need of changing, or lost altogether. Whatever the reason or whatever the cause, the timing of these critical changes in humanity’s journey seems to coincide with astrological climaxes – those rare periods of time when planets are arranged at such an unusual point in their orbits around the Sun, that the Earth appears to be right in the middle of a special symmetrical spatial vortex.

From 1988-1993 there was one of these rare astrological climaxes, known as the “Capricorn Climax.” As seen from Earth, the planets Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune - plus the Moon’s North Node – all crossed one another against the background of the tropical zodiac sign of Capricorn. Life for everyone on the planet began a massive transformation at that time, brought about by revolutionary applications in the area of communications. The fax machine, computers, and the internet launched what has become known as the “Information Superhighway.” In lightning speed, inhabitants of this planet could communicate with one another from almost anywhere in the world and - unlike with the telephone – they could do so at relatively little cost. It was also the time during which the spirit of liberty and freedom gained great momentum. The walls of Communism were torn down as hundreds of millions of people were given the freedom to pursue liberties and freedoms within a structure of free market economies that were previously unavailable.

Prior to that there was an astrological climax in the mid-1960’s. This was a period when Uranus and Pluto came together on one side of the Earth in the constellation of Virgo, and on the other side was Saturn in Pisces. The quest for freedom and liberty was strong then too, as denoted by the conjunction of Uranus and Pluto. But so was the opposition to granting such freedoms, as signified by the crystalline structure of the great-ringed planet of Saturn. Here we had the fierce force of youth in the form of Uranus and Pluto demanding reform and change – the demand to be listened to and allowed to freely express its creative urges. But it was in opposition to the establishment – Saturn – which wasn’t about to let go of its control. The result was a clash between generations, and youth won. But it was at a cost, as many lives were lost fighting for a cause that seemed so important for the old guard in its quest for world power and empire building.

Before that there was another astrological climax, which can be described as a “Cardinal Climax,” that took place in the early 1930’s. This was a time when Saturn, Uranus, and Pluto all entered cardinal signs of the zodiac, forming what astrologers identify as a T-square with one another (Uranus in Aries was midway between Pluto in Cancer and Saturn in Capricorn). Here the winds of war1 – of what would become World War II – were building in Europe, and would soon involve both Asia and North America, not to mention Africa too. It specifically coincided with the “Great Depression,” an economic crisis that continued throughout the decades of the 1930’s. Although that was painful and wretched, and perhaps led to the frustration that eventually resulted in World War II, the fact is that once again human history coincided with yet another quest for world power and empire building that would alter the direction of its inhabitants. The boundaries of the world changed, and so did the way that people related to – communicated with – one another. Not only that, but world power changed then. It would not be inaccurate to say the greatest power in the world shifted from Great Britain to the United States during the decades of the 1930’s and 40’s, immediately following the “Cardinal Climax.” But there was a point where that world power shift was almost accorded to Germany and Japan. Instead of the United States as a country – and its Dollar as a currency – becoming the standard world bearer of power, it could have just as easily become Germany and Japan, the D-Mark and the Yen, that could have taken over the role previously held by England and it currency, the British Pound. The difference was a colossal error in military judgment, and lack of essential coordination due to a lack of understanding of cultural differences, that led Japan to attack the United States in Pearl Harbor and the Philippines, rather than commence an assault from the east onto Moscow and thus secure German victory over Stalin first.

But this is what happens when these celestial climaxes unfold: there is a fork in the road, and world leaders must make difficult choices. And those choices determine the course of life on this earth for the next several years, even decades. In the 1930’s and 40’s, Germany began a quest for world power and domination that ended unsuccessfully as winter began just a few miles short of Moscow. The Germans failed to coordinate with Japan an effective strategy that would have ended in victory for Hitler and the Germans, and which would have left Japan then free to conquer the Pacific as the U.S. military – under Franklin Roosevelt and a resistant Congress – would have likely remained out of combat much longer. England would have folded. France was already defeated. Russia would have been the next to fall with a Japanese assault on its Eastern front. That would have required Stalin to deplete his army defending Moscow and himself against the Germans in the west, to fight the new siege in the east from the Japanese.

But history only records and rewards the heroism of the victors. Those who lose the final result are penalized, criminalized, and made to sacrifice heavily. Never mind the moral issue of developing an atom bomb (a process that began with this Cardinal Climax) that killed hundreds of thousands of innocent people in order to secure that victory. Never mind the millions of Jews and Chinese who were put into concentration or work camps, killed, or used for inhumane medical experiments or involuntary sexual service. Whoever wins the great wars, by whatever means, are recorded historically as the heroes and rewarded with great new status and riches. They are crowned as God’s true children, those whose side God must favor. And those who lose are branded evil, ungodly, and punished harshly. There is no real morality in war. But there is a national verdict afterwards that is historically steeped in religious judgment, which seems to imply that all wars are moral, and God chooses to side with those nations that worship Him in the “His way” – the “right way.” But wasn’t it God who commanded: “Thou shall not kill?”

Why is this important in understanding today’s world? Why do I introduce the Forecast for 2008 book with these thoughts? Because once again, planets are about to unfold in another astrological climax. Not only that, but it is yet another “Cardinal Climax,” involving the same three planets that were involved in the early 1930’s. In fact it will be the first “Cardinal Climax” since that time. And once again, we see the same themes arising as we approach this Cardinal Climax as we witnessed in the 1930’s. That is: there is a quest for world power and empire building. The winds of war are starting to blow, in which different nations and groups are claiming that “God is on our side,” God protects us,” or “God is punishing those who defy His will.” Even in the United States today, as we leave 2007, some major religious leaders now contend that the United States is losing the war in Iraq because of its moral lapses, such as tolerance for homosexuality and abortions, a major religious issue to “God” in their universe. And the other theme is that of peace versus war. In the 1930’s and 1940’s, the U.S. had an increasingly unpopular president who was anxious to go to war, but a Congress and majority of the population that was against it. The military draft was enacted, but only by a one-vote majority in Congress at the time. One vote! The same dynamics are present today. Americans by a rather sizeable majority do not want war. Americans by majority are for peace. For that matter, most of the world’s population wants peace. But as former President Jimmy Carter declared a couple of years ago at a conference in Geneva, “The only impediment to the desire for peace in the world is the leaders of the world.” To which we might add: the desire for peace will interfere with the desire for empire building that accompanies such configurations as a T-square involving Saturn, Uranus, and Pluto. With Pluto moving from Sagittarius to Capricorn, the support of God (“God is on our side!”) will also play an important role in this conflict, as it usually does in such egregious strivings for world domination and empire building.

But once again, the power of the world may be about to shift hands – especially if critical errors in judgment are to be made as humanity enters this current “fork in the road.” These could be political (diplomatic) errors, or military errors in judgment. It doesn’t have to be that way, however. All that is required is to learn from history, and not repeat the same mistakes as before – the same mistakes that were made under a rare astrological configuration that is about to unfold again: the “Cardinal Climax.” After all, astrology is the “choice revealer,” not the “choice maker.” We – our leaders – have the free will to make the choices when we come to such a “fork in the road.” But sometimes one has to wonder if the “free will” our leaders exercise is only to choose the inevitable.

The 2008-2015 Cardinal Ingress and T-Square Configuration

There are so many powerful geocosmic conditions unfolding in the next few years, that the challenge will be to figure out where to start, and how to prioritize so many critical issues that are due to arise.

The largest pattern that will unfold involves Saturn, Uranus, and Pluto, three of the four longest-term planetary cycles in their orbit around the Sun. Not only that, but these three planets are powerful, or “yang” in their nature. The other far-out planet – Neptune – is “yin,” and much softer by nature than the other three. Saturn, Uranus, and Pluto are strong and seem to “make things happen.” It is especially important now because these three planets will be moving from mutable signs to the action-oriented cardinal signs. This process unfolds from January 26, 2008, when Pluto first enters the cardinal sign of Capricorn, through March 17, 2015, when the final waxing square is completed between Uranus and Pluto, from the signs of Aries and Capricorn respectively. In between those dates, Saturn will enter the cardinal sign of Libra (October 29, 2009-October 5, 2012), and Uranus will enter the cardinal and war-like sign of Aries (May 28, 2010-March 6, 2019). Also, each of these planets will form a “hard” aspect to one another. Saturn will be in its 45-year opposition to Uranus five times between November 4, 2008 and July 26, 2010. Saturn will be in its 32-37 year waning square aspect to Pluto November 15, 2009 through August 21, 2010. And then the final segment of this powerful celestial set up ends with the seven passage series of Uranus in waxing square to Pluto, June 24, 2012 through March 17, 2015. This later signature may be the most important part of the whole pattern, for it doesn’t happen too often. The last occurrence was in 1876-77. In between, there was a waning square between these same two planets in 1932-1933. Both of these times coincided with economic depressions and severe stock market losses.

But each of the components of this configuration has correlations to important events in mundane and economic history. And to truly understand the potential significance of this “Cardinal Climax” of 2008-2015, we will give an overview of each signature, as well as other signatures that have led up to this historical cosmic event. Some of these were discussed in greater detail in previous editions of the annual Forecast Book. Readers would be encouraged to refer to these prior editions for greater insight.
